Quick Topic: What kind of support do you want and need?

When people have chronic illnesses, it is very hard for family and friends to understand or know what to do. When a Trigeminal pain episode hits, it is very hard for those around us to see us in pain or understand what we need. Many times the people we need the most turn away because our pain hurts them too and they want it gone as much as we do.

Today is our chance to tell our readers what we want and need during a pain episode. And how much it hurts that we cannot be the spouse, parent, employee, family member, or friend we want to be or were in the past.

Post your response as a comment.

First Topic for Stories --- Diagnosis: Coming to terms or not

This is the first story-starter on FACEing the PAIN.

Please submit your story of the journey to getting diagnosed and how you have come to terms or still struggle to accept having to live with the pain.

Email your story to: tnfacepain@gmail.com --- in the body of the email or as an attachment. We suggest 500 words or so. People will more likely read your story if it is not too long.

Become a follower of our blog and get the stories as they are published!

Beginnings

At FACEing the PAIN, we are a group of women and men with several types of facial pain disorders. These are rare diseases and the pain is difficult to treat and often intractable for many.

These are our stories, individual and collaborative, telling anyone who takes the time to read,  what it is like to live with pain so severe that people have taken their own lives to end their physical suffering. We also want this blog to be a place  where those of us who are FACEing the PAIN can find solace and comfort among friends who understand.

There are many places on the net to find medical information about our disorders:
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Atypical Face Pain
  • Trigeminal Neuropathic Pain
  • and others
This will not be a blog about finding medical treatment, instead we, the faces who are FACEing the PAIN want to share the personal, day-to-day, human side of living with this pain and in doing so, give hope where it can be found and compassion when the pain does not end.

If you suffer severe facial pain or love someone who does, please join us as this blog grows with stories from people around the world who are FACEing the PAIN. This is our site and everyone's story is welcome.
